Which breed of dog is your favorite? Post a picture of it.
Submitted by Melissa.well, my parents breed and show Airedales, so I've had Airedales all my life, so i have to say Airedales.
the only picture i can find off hand is this one that was meant to be of my mother's then new couch, but Simone walked in and decided to look insolently at the camera. she knew she was being in the picture and did it on purpose, i wasn't giving her my full attention. also same dog in a dog show looking more proper airdale
What work of art (film, book, record, whatever) changed your life?
Submitted by bodhibound.
well it didn't actually change my life, but it did upset my stomach and make my eyes ugly and i did make a life changing decision today.
both the book and the movie are equally as horribly...sad. i read the book years ago when i still worked in ticket centers and had to man the front desk until 9pm. someone had left the book on the desk and it was a slow Saturday. it's a small book, and i read quickly. i read the whole book during my shift. i forgot to take a lunch. i'm warning you, don't even start reading/watching unless you have a full box of tissues, or maybe skip the tissues and go straight for a towel. this story is sappy and simple, but moving and will make you cry.
ugh, now my stomach hurts.
What is your favorite dish on the Thanksgiving table?
Submitted by Kadeeae.
well clearly my mom's or my cranberry sauce. followed closely by cornbread stuffing.
cranberry sauce is easy
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 apple, red delicious
1 bag cranberries
rinse cranberries and put aside.
cut apple into cubes about cranberry size and add to water and sugar.
bring water, sugar and apple to a boil
reduce heat and add in cranberries
bring back to a simmer/light boil for 10 minutes, or until all berries are popped.
the mixture will foam after most of the berries have popped.
stop here for whole berry sauce,
set
up a metal mesh strainer on top of a tall bowl. i find i do not want
the bottom of the strainer lower than halfway down the bowl. then use
a metal spoon to push berry mixture through the mesh.
use skins in other recipes, or add back into the sauce for some texture.
i use my biggest non-stock pot. a stock pot is going to be too tall for stirring and then later for the straining process.
cornbread stuffing
Cornbread casserole -
1 stick of melted butter
2 eggs
1 can (15-20 oz.) whole kennel corn - drained
1 can ( 15- 20 oz. ) cream corn
1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix
8 oz. sour cream
----------------------------
mix all ingredients in a small casserole dish
bake 1 hour
for double recipe use 13" x 9" dish
Where is the farthest you have ever been away from home? Did you get homesick?
Submitted by Melissa.
Well... it just so happens i'm flying to london tomorrow for a job interview. I'm trying my hardest to get a job in london. I'm sure i'll be homesick, but it's also and adventure. i'll be gone all week, so my sporadic posting will be even more so until i return. expect a lot of flickr activity when i return.
What movie did you expect would be terrible, but was actually really good?
empire records. I love this movie. i also worked in a record store. the archetypes of personalities working in a record shop were pretty spot on. i could see bits of me in some of those characters and definitely see my friends as the others. We were not courted by a wholesale chain, but it was a struggle to keep going.
a pretty lighthearted movie that made me laugh. i was expecting the usual teen dribble.
