when i get a text message, i hear
at one point, the head of our department form LA was in town doing some training. i forgot to turn down the sound on my phone. someone texted me right when he paused talking. he thought someone called him a moron. it was awesome. also, he was the only one who knew what it was from. before i moved out, i changed all of the sounds on jumbojoe's computer to have evil dead sounds.
i also say "you'll get nothing and like it" but very few people get the caddyshack reference.
What do you collect? martini glasses and martini glass art, bats, weird toys for my desk, smooth polished rocks and minerals
What's your motto? this is a weird question, i don't really have one. i've been reading a lot of buddhist books recently and there are some concepts in buddhism i really like and try to encorporate into my daily life. specifically compassion and altruism. i'm still learning what i want to do with my life and how i affect everything inthe world, but i want to remember to have compassion for everyone i have contact with.
If you could watch any movie on the big screen right at this moment, what would it be? the original star wars trilogy was fun onthe big screen before all of this digitally remastering and adding stuff in. same with et. i'd like to see original theatrical release, not the directors wanking over special effects versions.
What are your personal memories of September 11th? i remember someone at work running down the hall to turn on the tv while we were on a conference call. we went home early that day. i called my ex who still worked downtown charlotte in the bank of american tower hoping he would leave work soon. everyone was talking about how charlotte was a banking capital and hence an obvious target. everything was closing, everyone was confused and upset. i didn't know what to do or what to think. i watched cnn for most of the day. this was when i realized that the news has ceased being news and was just sensationalism. nothing positive, all speculation, so called experts giving opinions that were being taken as fact. everything was now a suspected terrorist plot. and every year since i am constantly reminded of these facts and how much i despise everyone on the news stations who continue to rile everyone up and spread fear. since 9/11 i have almost completely stopped watching/reading news. 9/11 seems to be a big seller for ratings points, and that really cheapens the tragedy in my eyes. i'm so dissapointed in the media for abusing the drama value of 9/11.
