My friend from high school came to visit and we've been going around doing some touristy thing.

first day we drove up pacific coast highway to santa monica beach

then we drove up malibu canyon road and it was breathtaking.

then we went to trader joe's to get some provisions and called it a day in watching movies and relaxing.

Day two we did a lot.  We started out by driving by Youngwood court

LACMA was having a free weekend, so we went to the museum.

We also went to the tar pit museum

After  along 8+hour flight,

i get to nice and cold London.  Immigration was a breeze this time.  there was guy with my name on a sign waiting to take me to the hotel.  It was  along and twisty drive.
since i was working on little sleep and a little hungry, i started to feel a bit sick.  Then all of a sudden we are at the Thames and minutes from the hotel.  I check in and i'm on the 7th floor.  that would be considered the 8th floor in america, but they clal gorund level ground and the first level up 1, which makes sense, but is just slightly different enough that i was constantly pressing the wrong buttons.

I feel exhausted, so i sleep until about 5pm.  then i walk up farringdon road to black friars bridge. 

along that road was a nice irish pub where i has a chicken and mushroom stew.

  it was a bit cold out but not too bad so i walked to the eye. I pondered a bit about going on the eye at night or during the day.  there was  a pair of girls who wanted on the eye but were under 18 so could not go.  we went together.  they were very nice.  the trip on the eye was quite lovely and i wasn't as scared as i thought i would be

the i walked along to another bridge to cross and see big ben and parliament.

then i took the train back to kings cross and caught a bus to the hotel.    It was cold and late and i didn't want to be outside anymore.

monday i bought a ticket to ride one of the bus tours.

It was nice and cold.  i also took their beatles tour.  also long and cold.  after some technical difficulty with calling matty, we finally came up with a time to meet for dinner.  i was starved, having unwisely forgotten to eat after breakfast.  We ate at this tiny little Japanese place that was very tasty.  we then went to the Korean market next door and bought strange sweets.  there was this nice bar upstairs that we chilled out at.  we had this alcove with a curvey couch and table.  we met some girls there also looking for a place to sit.  they were nice.  eventually they left and some of matty's friends came by.  it was a lovely night.  at some point, i had a responsible thought and had to get back to my hotel room to sleep for my interview the next day.  i got the very last train back to kings cross after running down some stairs.

tuesday i spent in the office.  then i went back to the hotel room and stayed in.  i was tired and exhausted. I tried to watch a cricket game, but it was too confusing.

Wednesday we went to manchester and spent the day in that office.  We took the virgin trains there and back.  They got me a spectacular seat to see lord of the rings.

  It was a musical, which was greatly amusing.  it wasn't the most amazing play i've seen, but it wasn't bad.  it's like the movie but in musical play form.  quite a bit different than the stories, but i guess it's hard to condense 3 books into a play.

Thursday i had a more formal interview which was quite intimidating.  They i went back to the room and packed a bit since i was going out drinking with some mates.  i bought a train ticket to get to the airport.  i was  a bit early to the train station we were meeting at, so i walked around tottenham court road.  Finally we all found each other and walked around a bit to eventually find a pizza express.  We got back on the tube and went over to joe's place and sat around chatting and inventing strange drinks.

t was an awesomely fun time.

Friday i had a horrible time wrangling my suitcases on the train.  the taxi dropped me off at the correct kings cross station for my train, but i needed the other one to print my ticket.  so i missed the first train i wanted to get.  they are only a block apart, but that quite far when you are lugging around 3 pieces of luggage.  so i get back, and there is not an elevator down to the platform, so the nice usher helped me down.  the airport was very easy to navigate.  i had a lovely brie cucumber and tomato sandwich.  i have come to the realization that i do like brie.  i thought i hated it all these years.

now i'm home and quite happy.  i'll find out later this week if they offer the job to me or not.

now i belong to a product testing thing, and every so often i get sent a sample.  today i was sent a sample of something frozen, and some dry ice.  Seriously, the big orange warning to not play with the dry ice, was more of an invitation.

dry ice is noisy.  it hissed and popped very loudly until it all melted.  it was fun to watch it sublimate

Well i broke down and bought a pro flickr account so i can upload all the pictures i desire.  If you haven't added me as a contact, please do.  I love sharing my photos with you, and i love to see your photos as well.  they inspire me to look at my world differently and expand my picture taking opportunities.

I'm choosing to move forward with flickr as my primary picture source because of the ease in which i can add them to my vox&lj.
