now it seems i can post to live journal and show the full post.
not sure if it will show pictures or just a link.
i'm still trying to think of a mix tape theme. boy usually has the ipod and i only have a few mp3's at work, so i haven;t bene listeneing to music much.
i need to get back into it. i feel a bit lost with out the music.
we are finally home. i am so happy to be in my own bed.
our flight yesterday was ok. over all, the trip to atlanta was a huge success. i had so much fun exploring atlanta. airtran even has a little satellite desk by the marta that had no line, so we checked in with no wait. we had the row to ourselves on the flight back. i would definitely fly airtran again. their pretzels do not taste good, so bring your own snack.
i think i twisted my knee and ankle (opposite legs for most painful impact) walking around in the cold. both are extremely painful, so i'm going to lay around today being lazy and giving my joints a rest while i take some tylenol.
i still have some pictures to post, once i get them downloaded and organized i'll do a real wrap up post.
we have done a lot the last 2 days, so today we are hanging out a bit. we slept in a bit later than the past 2 days and decided to adventure to the east. so far we have been exploring along the north and south train and today we took the east train to candler park. we walked over to the flying biscuit cafe. we tried fried green tomatoes because we don't normally see something like that on the menu in florida. this cafe was awesome. they server breakfast and some lunch type food as well. the breakfast is amazing. the potatoes are cooked just right, the chicken sausage was yummy, and the biscuits are out of this world. then we walked up to little 5 points and browsed junkmans daughter. a little shop with lots of weird objects and clothes.
it was at junkman's that i made the mistake of finding the cuteness that is monokuro boo.
we are getting ready to go say hi to the people at the Atlanta office before going over to the concert.
tonight is jeff tweedy. we are so excited. tomorrow we plan on going to CNN and taking the tour.
it is seriously cold here, it only recently broke above freezing to a blistering 39 degrees.
this is quite a change from florida weather. after 2 years in florida, i have discovered that i really hate being cold, and this is why i have not moved back.
it's also weird, i guess i got used to trees having greenery year round. the bare trees are sad looking. we saw some ice during out walk.
well after walking a couple of miles yesterday, we woke up a bit tired and sore. we went downstairs and the hotel offers a hot breakfast. they have this cool make your own waffle setup along with the normal breakfast buffet stuffs.
we walked up luckie street and passed the tabernacle. this is where we are seeing jeff tweedy tomorrow.
we walked across centennial park to the Georgia aquarium. The aquarium was nice, we got there right at 10am when it opened. it was busy, but not nearly as busy as when we left.
i took so many pictures of sea life.
we took the tourist loop bus to midtown and tried to eat at the flying biscuit, but we waited outside in the wind for about 30 minutes and left. i was frustrated and hungry and we were still 7 people down on the list. apparently some people left and got skipped and came back, so they were being sat first. this irritated me, you leave you lose is my philosophy.
we walked back to the train and stopped at five points and walked through the underground to the world of coke. i found this play poster and wonderful store.
and finally we went to the varsity. a classic greasy diner.
the flight to atlanta was relatively uneventful. airtran has free xm radio on all flights now. it's ok, but i wouldn't pay for it.
we successfully navigated the MARTA, atlantas version of public transportation.
We decided to go to the mellow mushroom. we split a calzone. i swear they have the best dough and pizza sauce. i'm glad we don't live too near one, it would be hard not to eat there everyday.
we just missed the bus back to the train station, so we decided to walk. there was this nice park called piedmont
we had a nice walk around the park. there was a lot of dogs, and people playing frisbee or kickball and kids running around. we are both glad we missed the bus, it was a nice way to spend the evening.
this bridge is notable because i missed the boobies. there was this nice old bridge, so i took some pictures. there was another couple there, and apparently she was stripping to a silver bikini while he was taking pictures. jon was laughing and i missed it because i was trying to actually photograph the bridge.
some more pictures from our walk in the park.
the crosswalks are creepy. they have eyes that look back and forth at you.
near the train station is the atlanta federal reserve. i took these as we walked around the grounds.
we decided to go to a CVS to get a gallon of water. we are staying at a hotel that has suites with a kitchenette. we have a fridge, so we wanted some water to keep around. the city water tastes funny. walking around the marta station trying to find the correct street with the CVS, we passed a group of people just dancing on the sidewalk and generally being weird. i guess they didn't want to pay cover at a bar. the CVS was about to close in fact the door was locked, but the security guard let us in. there was a little girl who threw up by the door. on the way back there was a store with the alarm going off and a couple arguing at the top of the escalator.
i think we are calling it a night, we started at 6am this morning, and i think day one was very successful.
