Scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008 at the famous Universal Studios Hollywood, all players, coaches, broadcasters and alumni - including Marty McSorley 700K  and Marcel Dionne - will be on hand to receive a $1 “tip” for an autograph and/or a $2 “tip” for a photograph from their loyal fans. All proceeds benefit the Kings Care Foundation, the LA Kings award winning non-profit organization that provides educational and recreational opportunities for children throughout Greater Los Angeles.

The LA Kings "Ice Bike" will be up for auction at Tip A King 2008.

This is the single largest fundraiser for the Kings Care Foundation. Each year the entire Los Angeles Kings Hockey Club and its fans join together for this fun-filled celebration, which for over 16 years has raised more than $2 million for local children’s charities.

Apparently someone in the company couldn't use the tickets, so i'll be styling all VIP like.  this free food, free amusment park, free alcohol LA life isn't too shabby.

My friend from high school came to visit and we've been going around doing some touristy thing.

first day we drove up pacific coast highway to santa monica beach

then we drove up malibu canyon road and it was breathtaking.

then we went to trader joe's to get some provisions and called it a day in watching movies and relaxing.

Day two we did a lot.  We started out by driving by Youngwood court

We walked about the grove for a bit.

When it was dark and about 8:30 we drove up to Griffith observatory.  it was really cool to see la lit up.

today was a long day.  we woke up and decide to go to the travel town museum  which was cute.  i took a bunch of pictures.  i still have to upload them. it was neat to climb up inside some old steam engines.  it's really nice that it is free.  there were tons of kids having birthday parties and limbing around the engines.  We ate at taste chicago for a bit of nostalgia (boy is from chicago)  then we drove and drove and drove.  we ended up taking sunset all the way to the ocean.  we made a little side journey up in the beverly hills.  I really would be terrified to live inthe hills, the roads are so steep and winding, it's quite scary to drive on.

it's a nice drive to the ocean, not too far, about 30 minutes because we took surface roads and not highways.  it's quite amazing to crest a hill and *boom* ocean.  it was a little cold, so we walked a bit on the beach and headed back.  Remind me to thank my boss for giving me a few days to get used to the time zone.  i'm tired, but getting used to it.

was interesting.  they packed up everything in about 4 hours.  they pu tour cars on the truck, which was neat.

we've officially been here a day now.  we have gone shopping at trader joe's and ralphs.  ralphs is like kroger back east.  it was clean and laid out fairly well.  we shall try von's next.  von's is a 24 hour grocery.
