i'm attending 2 office parties and kind of planning one of them.
]]>I have 2 job prospects working at the moment. It is driving me nuts.
first they are restructuring my department, laying off most of it, and hiring a new manager. i am up for the promotion to manager, but not until they actually post the position. it's nerve-racking to sit here and wait for it to be posted.
the second one is just something i applied for as a lark before the whole restructuring bit. i received the standard postcard "we received your application, if you are not chosen for an interview, this will be your last communication from us." It's an insane amount of money for the position.
I'm trying to remind myself that it's the holidays, so everything moves slowly, but it's difficult. I just want some direction to my future. i know i have a job, it's just what will that job be?
]]>I admit i have a very low starting opinion of "wrastling" I see no redeeming value in staged violence and spandexed men touching each other very inappropriately. I also have low oppinions of the fans from my days working as a ticket seller. generally i just ignore WWE and all of the hype, and change the subject when people start talking about it.
Well tonight Jon and i decided to go out for some chicken wings. He has been getting over the plague i had last week, and needed to get out of the house. We like going to BW3's (well that's what it used to be called, now it's just bw's. I'm old school) Jon likes the wings and we like to play the NTN trivia.
Being that it's Sunday night, there was a lot of American football on tv and it was loud with people yelling for the game. we ordered and played trivia. the game ends and next is WWE. Well, first this 3some sits down at a table that directly blocks our view of the one tv with trivia. the bar area was a step up from the area we were sitting in.This 3some is the very definition of "backwards," sad fashion of ill fitting clothes, bad teeth, no table manners. we ask the waitress to change the tv closer to us.
Yes, we were the only people in a sports bar not really interested in sports. I AM NOT ADMITTING WWE IS A SPORT IN ANY SENSE OF THE WORD, I personally think WWE is tasteless, but that's a whole different ranting post.
this particular fight was a "fire match" the edge of the ring had flames that grew larger every time someone was thrown to the mat. Well Toothey McFrankenbride starts leaning over the rail over our table yelling at the big screen. At first it was all "Oh no!!!" and "go get him!!" and "That's my man" type of shouting. distracting to my trivia game because she is shouting right in my ear, but i ignore it. Finally the guy with the leather speedo takes a ring turnbuckle and lights it on on fire. Toothey McFrankenbride shouts "get him mother f^cker!" i give her a nasty look.
Did i mention this restaurant and sports bar is in a touristy area and it was around 9pm, so there were still children around. Yet another rant about WWE and letting children watch should be inserted here.
The fight continues and jon and i are still ignoring it until the whole resturant starts going crazy. Leather speedo is sticking the other guy's @ss in the fire around the ring. Apparently in the "story of WWE," and i use that loosely, leather speedo is the bad guy. Toothey McFrankenbride yells something about the "mother f^cking f@ggot!" i turn around and ask her to stop yelling into my table as she is starting to offend me. I know you will all be surprised when i say that i actually did this in the politest way possible. I was surprised myself. They look at me for a second and ignore me. Jon and i retun to trivia, Toothey McFrankenbride continues to yell and curse.
Finally jon wins hte round of trivia and we decide to leave. I warn him that when we get up i am going to tell Toothey McFrankenbride off a bit.
We stand up to go and i say " You should really leanr how to behave in public beforre you are allowed out again. Shouting f@ggot and mother f^cker is really not appropriate." I say this calmly and with out cursing myself. Toothey McFrankenbride decides to start calling me a f^cking bitch amongst other things. I walk off.
As we were int he car waiting to leave the parking lot, Toothey McFrankenbride decides to send out Toothless Joey to come out and yell at me. i leave my windows up and have 911 ready to call in case he gets too close to the car. I didn't hear what he said because i rolled up my window and ignored him.
What is wrong with people. When did it become acceptable to go to a restaurant and yell at the tv on the wall, disrupting the other people's dinner. And i'm not even talking about the obscenities. yes i curse, but no i do not start yelling mother f^cker in a restaurant. and i would never yell f@ggot, ever.

the original nancy drew novels and the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. i have several first edition nancy drew books my grandmother purchased for me in storage. i started reading douglas adams in 7th grade. most of the jokes went over my head, but i kept reading them. i still read the h2g2 books every year or so.
]]>This was the first night launch since i moved to orlando, and my second viewing of a launch. IT was incredible. I live on the west side or orlando, and the sky was all lit up like sunrise. It was just fascinating how visible, bright, and beautiful the launch was. I'm sorry i didn't have my camera ready, i really didn't think living so far away the view would be worthy. i was wrong.
nasa is amazing.
Show us something blue. the blue line from the blue line. formerly known as the wedway people mover. tomorrowland. it's a nice relaxing ride, i think we went on 3 times. good break from the queuing and mobs of people.
